Giving Thanks and All That Jazz
It's been a surprisingly delightful Thanksgiving. (MUCH better than the time a snow storm knocked out the power to the fancy restaurant we had reservations at and we ended up at an iHop because it was the only place open)
My parents came to visit me for the holiday. The idea of hosting was rather stressful as ( anyone who knows me realizes) I cannot cook. At all.
Everything involved with the dinner either came from a pouch (including the vegan turkey) or a can. It was wonderful. It took me 20 minutes to prepare everything and it tasted much better than anything I might have actually attempted to cook.
After dinner, Dad and I went for a walk through a cemetery and when we got back I drank hot chocolate while my mom knitted a scarf in front of a fire and we enjoyed a classic episode of "Girlmore Girls."
It was all very enjoyable.
Then today Mom took me grocery shopping and I reveled in not having to make choices based on whether or not I could carry everything home in my arms or on my back.
And tonight I put up Christmas lights on my porch. Pretty sparkling fun.
Currently I'm avoiding homework, but I don't feel too bad about that since I still have TWO WHOLE DAYS of the long weekend to do it.
In other news, Frankie goes in for his great snip-snip surgery on Monday. I won't get him back until Wednesday. (Eep!) All of your well-wishing would be greatly appreciated.
