Dooby Dooby Doo!

So, my dorm chair is old, squeaky, uncomfortable, and every time I move it feels like it's going to collapse under me. I have this strange image of it breaking in two. Then I'd have to attempt to explain the situation to a dorm maintenance man to get a new chair. The image...or more so movie...involves me screaming "I'm not fat!!!!! It's the chair!!!!!" So, today, when I just happened to notice that the room across from me which is empty for the summer, was being cleaned out. Actually, it had already been cleaned out and the door was left wide open. I wandered in...gently moved that room's chair...noticed it was far sturdier and far less squeaky than my chair. I then proceeded across the hall, grabbed my practically dilapidated chair, looked both ways before entering the empty hall and made the switch. I'm now sitting in what I like to classify as a SILENT chair. I'm rocking back and forth...no noise. I like my new quiet, but still uncomfortable chair. Ahh, dorm life.

I finally got my nap.

I have so much fun buying stuff online...it's a sickness.

It seems the more I attempt to prepare for the GRE, the scarier it becomes. Down with the scary!

(Okay, everyone can ignore the rest of this entry...it's notes on a book that I made for myself)

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (what a name)
-Lot's of "O" names
-Question one's own society and its rules
-customs
-contrast between cultures, generations
-differences in technology
-roles and perceptions of genders
-community
-outcasts of society (their willingness to join in the colonizing force)
-religion (and 2 approaches to evangelism)
-Colonization and unfair treatment of the Africans
-Okonkwo's inability to cope with change (that leads him to violate rules of the society he wants to maintain)
-Narrator says Okonkwo is a good member of the African society, but others in that society do not like aspects of his anger (And it gets him in trouble during Peace Week)
-Book follows the life of Okonkwo in the third person, but does leave him to follow general events...especially ceremonies.
-detailed description is rare.
